At Juno, it’s our mission to make a tech education more accessible to everyone, and to help young people get ahead - especially those from groups who are underrepresented in the tech industry.

Through our free coding workshops, part-time courses, and our award-winning Web Development Immersive Bootcamp, over 3,000 alumni have been equipped with in-demand digital skills through our hands-on, project-based approach and our supportive, diverse community.

We’re thrilled to welcome another cohort of students joining us from our continued partnership with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training Center. Founded in 1991, Miziwe Biik's goal is to meet the unique training and employment needs of the Indigenous community, providing training initiatives and employment services in the Greater Toronto Area.

Juno and Miziwe Biik began working together in 2019 on a special customized program for 12 students, which included teaching the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Those who had some computer experience and who were interested in learning to code participated in the the 8-week program, which took place at Miziwe Biik's centre in downtown Toronto. One student even went on to be accepted to Juno's Bootcamp!

This summer, Miziwe Biik offered Juno’s beginner-friendly Web Development course to their community, and the response was enthusiastic! We’re welcoming the first cohort of the year with 10 students joining our part-time, Live Online Web Development course. In this beginner-friendly course, students will learn the foundations of Web Development through project-based learning and will explore the unlimited possibilities of pursuing a career as a Web Developer.

This course is the perfect stepping stone for anyone thinking about a career change. Once this course is completed, we plan to further the students’ exploration in tech and offer our signature JavaScript course to those who are excited to continue their learning journey. Students will also be able to apply for a Pay-What-You-Can Income Share Agreement, which allows students to pay as little as $1 upfront to take Juno’s 9-week Web Development Immersive Bootcamp.

“We are all very excited about this initiative!” says Vickie Lebranche, Miziwe Biik’s Special Projects Manager.

Juno is delighted that Miziwe Biik’s community shares our excitement in this partnership! Miziwe Biik’s team has been incredibly proactive and innovative in their approach to continue to foster education initiatives in their community - especially during these uncertain times of the pandemic. We look forward to continuing our work together, and we can’t wait to see everyone in class!
