Knowledge of HTML and CSS makes it possible to code a basic website, but knowledge of JavaScript helps you to bring the site to life.

JavaScript is one of the world's most dynamic programming languages. It's also something we believe all front-end developers should know, which is why it's the focus of many of our part-time courses, as well as our full-time Web Development Bootcamp.

But what is JavaScript? While HTML and CSS are known as the basic front-end development languages, creating the content and style of a page, JavaScript is the next layer. It adds advanced functionality to a website, and greatly expands the possibilities of what you can build.

Some of the most popular sites on the web today are built with JavaScript - YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix just to name a few. But in reality, most of the websites you interact with on a daily basis use JavaScript in some form. To give you a taste of what is possible with this versatile coding language, here are a few websites built with JavaScript by Juno College Alumni.
