What is Juno College's COVID-19 Policy?

Juno College of Technology is planning for a safe, gradual return to our Toronto campus in consultation with our community and public health experts. Given the changing nature of the situation, we are providing updates detailing the latest public health guidance, Juno’s COVID-19 policies, and return-to-campus plans.

Re: Monitoring COVID-19 conditions

From: Heather Payne (Founder & CEO) and Farzad Kajouii (Vice President, Operations & Finance)

We are writing to update you on our efforts to support the well-being of the Juno community as we continue to plan for a fall with in-person classes and events on campus. At this time, Juno’s approach is largely informed by the COVID-19 policies in place at the University of Toronto, which you can read about here.

Juno continues to monitor Toronto and provincial public health guidance as we prepare for a potential new wave of COVID-19 infections. Recently, the province of Ontario expanded the eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination second booster shots to anyone over the age of 18. Staying up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccinations offers the best protection against severe illness. It will also reduce isolation requirements and disruptions to your on-campus activities in the event that you are exposed to COVID-19 or test positive. Information on vaccination eligibility and how to book an appointment is available on the Ontario provincial vaccines portal.

We strongly encourage everyone to remain up-to-date on vaccinations, which will minimize disruption should vaccine requirements be reimposed.

If you are feeling unwell or experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, you should stay home and self-isolate. The provincial self-assessment tool can help provide guidance and information for those that may have been exposed and/or have symptoms.

While masks are not currently required on Juno’s campus, the use of a medical mask in high-density indoor spaces when physical distancing is not possible is strongly encouraged at times when cases are rising in Ontario. Juno is a mask-friendly environment, and we ask everyone to respect each other’s decisions, comfort levels, and health needs.

Juno will continue to monitor public health conditions over the coming weeks and will adjust our response as needed, and we will update you on any changes.

Re: Return to Campus – Initial health measures

From: Heather Payne (Founder & CEO) and Farzad Kajouii (Vice President, Operations & Finance)

Throughout the pandemic, the Juno community has worked diligently to maintain a safe and supportive environment, and we have been running our programs exclusively online since March 2020. We are now ready to gradually return to on-site learning and are preparing for our first In-Person Web Development course.

We are writing to provide an update on the health restrictions on our campus that will take effect for our upcoming In-Person courses. These changes are being made in response to the Ontario government’s Roadmap to Reopen and public health guidance in Toronto.

As has been the case over the course of the pandemic, Juno’s approach has been informed by changing regulations, legislation, and direction from public health authorities. At this time, Juno’s approach is largely informed by the COVID-19 policies in place at the University of Toronto, which you can read about here.

Using the University of Toronto’s policies as our guide, for In-Person Juno courses and on-campus activities beginning after May 1, 2022:

• Completing a health screening prior to attending Juno premises will not be required. However, community members should not come to campus if feeling unwell or if they have recently tested positive for COVID-19. For more information pertaining to isolation and exposure please refer to Ontario’s information page.

• There is no vaccine requirement for In-Person activities on Juno’s premises. However, based on public health guidance, vaccination requirements may be reinstated with little notice, which could result in de-enrolment or ineligibility to work, so staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations is strongly encouraged.

• There is no requirement to be masked in indoor Juno spaces, unless otherwise required.

Some or all of these requirements may be reinstated on short notice should public health conditions or guidance change.

In addition to these policies, we will be limiting the size of our first In-Person course to 60% of the classroom's capacity, and we will be installing high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter units in the classroom.

While physical distancing and masking will no longer be required, we ask everyone to respect the decisions of others regarding these measures, according to their comfort levels and health needs. It is vitally important that, even with the easing of provincial measures, we remain vigilant, conscientious and respectful of one another.
