About the Position
In this Leadership role reporting to Juno’s Founder & CEO, you’ll be responsible for growing revenue at Juno through managing our marketing and sales teams. With six direct reports and an overall team of nine, we’re looking for a curious, experimental, hands-on leader with expertise in consumer marketing.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Juno’s CEO and our two other VPs (Programs and Operations & Finance) to lead this People-First company to continuous meaningful success, both financially and in terms of impact on our team, students, alumni and the broader community.
If you haven’t read our Vision 2022 blog post, we recommend starting there. This is a unique opportunity to work for a woman-founded, founder-led organization passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion and about being Evergreen. And did you hear we’re transitioning to a four-day workweek in 2022?
At this stage in Juno’s nearly 10-year history, we need help honing our playbook to drive repeatable (paced) growth. We have product/market fit and great word-of-mouth referrals - our students love our courses and transformational student experiences. Last quarter, our customer satisfaction score was 92% - meaning 92% of all students were satisfied or very satisfied with their experience at Juno.
Now we need you to come in and work with our team to hone our approach to finding, nurturing and providing thoughtful consulting and support to potential students so that a) they hear about us in the first place, and b) they choose Juno over competitors or the worst competitor of all... doing nothing!
We feel it is most important that our VP Growth comes from a growth marketing or demand generation background. Marketing drives all leads at Juno (other than B2B leads) and if done right, everything else works. You may also be a fit for this role if you’ve been a founder or entrepreneur and successfully figured out how to grow revenues or your customer base over many years, growing to a team of 30-40 people.
What success looks like
Over the next year, we’d like you to optimize at least one of the priority areas of our funnel: either bringing more prospects to Juno’s top of funnel while holding conversion steady or optimizing our funnel to convert more leads. This will likely be through either a kick-ass events program (both virtual and - fingers crossed - in person) or SEO to drive top of funnel leads and then content/email marketing to nurture.
You might discover new opportunities, too. Whichever path you choose, you need to be able to analyze our funnel and take action each quarter to tackle the highest potential opportunities or solve the biggest problems.
Your team
Juno’s Growth team is made of nine amazing people, six of which will report directly to you. Here is the breakdown of the team:
- Senior Designer (with a Marketing Developer reporting to them)
- Marketing Specialist
- Demand Generation Manager
- Revenue Operations Manager
- Student Success Manager (with a Student Success Consultant and Student Advisor reporting to them)
- B2B Sales Manager
About You
You’re a doer, and you love being hands-on with your team. You’ve led a team before, ideally one that spans both marketing and sales, but that’s not a requirement. You have deep marketing expertise, especially in growth marketing, or you might be a former founder or entrepreneur. You’ve stood up a new growth channel from scratch.
We’re looking for someone who is an expert in at least one growth channel relevant to Juno - this could be events, SEO, content marketing or email marketing.
You’ve thrived in companies in the 30 - 75 people range and prefer working for smaller organizations where you can have a greater impact. You are very creative, both in terms of coming up with marketing ideas but also in terms of how you solve problems because, at Juno, we work within the constraints of growing profitably, an exciting challenge for the right person.
You should have the skills and expertise to create a detailed plan of what your first six months will look like. We don’t expect you to know everything, but you need to be able to take data and info to peers and advisors to figure out the actual growth strategy.
