What will I learn?
WordPress and Shopify are two content management systems (CMS). WordPress is a free, open-source CMS that allows users to create their own websites, blogs, portfolios, online stores, and more. Shopify is a subscription-based ecommerce platform that allows merchants to start, grow, and manage their business. Both WordPress and Shopify include numerous plugins and features, including their own template systems (also known as custom themes).
In our WordPress & Shopify Development course, you'll gain the skills you need to build beautiful custom themes to round out your portfolio, take on larger freelance projects, or level up at the agency you're working at.
Through in-class instruction and hands-on practice, you will:
- learn why WordPress and Shopify are the industry standard for clients
- gain a foundational understanding of these powerful content management systems
- leave with two stunning portfolio-ready projects
This part-time course is designed to fit with a busy schedule, with sessions running on evenings in our signature 8-week format.
What will I build?
Throughout this course, you'll build a WordPress website and a Shopify ecommerce store to add to your portfolio! Juno student Sam Pilehvarian created a fictional Shopify store for film lovers. Built with Liquid, Shopify, HTML5, CSS3/Sass, and JavaScript, users can browse the inventory, filter, sort, and search the titles by variety of keywords and flip through all available collections. Check out his live Shopify project here.
If you’re a developer passionate about the exciting world of ecommerce, then this is the course you should take. With the help of instructors and mentors who are knowledgeable industry professionals, the course dives deep into teaching how to build themes and templates in WordPress and Shopify by writing PHP and Liquid respectively. - Sam Pilehvarian
