About the Position
At Juno, we've spent almost all of our eight year history growing through word of mouth. Last year, we decided to step it up in a big way and began to make more substantial investments in marketing. With the function currently being led by Juno's CEO, we are now seeking a talented marketer and highly capable manager to join the Juno Leadership Team as our Director of Marketing.
In this role, you will be responsible for the entire marketing function at Juno. Currently, the team consists of a Marketing Manager, a Design & Content Marketing Manager, a Marketing Coordinator and a Web Developer. They're an incredibly talented bunch, and they’re excited for additional leadership and direction from a professional marketer (rather than from their current leader, Juno's CEO). In terms of tactics, we’re very active on social media, we run paid advertisements on Facebook and Google and our marketing stack also includes Salesforce, Pardot, and Outreach. We have made substantial investments in data over the past year, and we have excellent attribution tracking and can calculate our CAC accurately. We have hundreds of five star reviews online and a very passionate and engaged alumni community. There is a direct connection between marketing activities and revenue growth at Juno, so someone obsessed with the marketing funnel and helping our potential students move through it would be a good fit for our team. Over the past eight years, we’ve grown rapidly on a small annual marketing budget - but now we’re ready to step on the gas.
We’re at the point where all we see is opportunity - and we need a leader to take the function by the reins and turn it into an engine that builds the Juno brand, delivers MQLs to the Admissions Team and significantly contributes to the Leadership Team by helping Juno move toward its big, hairy, audacious 10-year goal. With COVID, we transitioned from an exclusively in-person school to a Live Online school, opening up our market to all of Canada, and even the world, and it's going incredibly well. We feel we are the best coding bootcamp in the world, and now we can serve the whole world. It's also worth mentioning that we will be launching a new vocational program in 2021, so there will be a substantial launch with a healthy budget to design and execute towards the end of 2020. This is an incredibly exciting time to join the Juno team.
Reporting to Juno’s CEO and with two direct reports (and two indirect reports) to support you (for now!), you will be a key member of Juno’s Leadership Team. Juno's Leadership Team includes five people promoted from within, and two people hired externally onto the Leadership team - a nice mix. You’ll also be a key member of the broader Juno team, which sits at around 30 people. We’re a close-knit and passionate team, and it’s important to us that everyone who joins us fits with our core values: 1) We experiment & improve, 2) We take initiative & deliver results, 3) We’re flexible & thrive in ambiguity, 4) We’re enthusiastic & positive. Everyone on our team strives to live these values every day, and during COVID, it's never been more clear that these values are incredibly important to us at Juno. If these values resonate with you, please...read on!
This role is ideal for a marketer with significant experience, but I’ll leave it to you to share with me how your experience is relevant and has prepared you for this opportunity. We’re particularly excited about people who have experience with performance marketing, demand generation, sales funnel optimization & marketing automation, but if that's not you, don't hold back - we'd still like to hear from you. Your current title is probably Manager or Director, but if you’re with a smaller company, it could be VP or CMO. Our 10-year goal is so ambitious that we need the best of the best to join our team to help us make it happen!
Founded in 2012, Juno (also known as Juno College of Technology, since we’re a registered Private Career College) is a well-loved provider of hands-on, project-based training for people who want to learn to code or become professional developers! From our 12,000 square foot office in downtown Toronto and our Live Online classrooms, we run full-time and continuing education courses year-round. With thousands of alumni and 1000+ students a year, there’s a large community of people ready to welcome you to Juno!
Juno is one of the most unique workplaces in Toronto, perhaps in Canada, due in part to being owner-operated since its founding. We’re a team of about 30, which is the perfect size for people who want to have an area where they specialize, while also having impact on the other parts of the business. For a small business, we’re very organized (thanks, EOS!), but we’re still really different from IBM or Shopify, so someone who enjoys working for a large company or enterprise might not like it here. In terms of our future, we see that this is a very interesting time in higher education, and we think we have a major role to play in transforming higher education over the next few decades. All that to say, we're really ambitious. Our team loves working here because the work we do makes people's’ lives better: we create learning environments that inspire, and help people get better jobs or change careers. Our customers thank us every single day - not too many companies out there can say something like that.
This is a full-time, permanent position beginning as soon as possible (but we’re flexible - it’s more important for us to find the right person than anything else!) At the moment, the role is remote, but we're seeking someone who either lives in Toronto or would be willing to move to Toronto once it is safe to meet in person again.
