About This Position

Exciting things are happening at Juno College! We’re in the midst of building out our Data Science offering and are seeking a full-time (40 hours / week) Lead Educator for our Data Science division. We’re looking for someone that is experimental, collaborative, empathetic, and passionate about higher education, particularly in Data Science. This is a flexible role that’ll allow you to mould new pedagogies, research and test innovative ways of delivering content, and lead the growth of our Data Science program offerings.

In this role, you’ll find a fine balance between imagining new programs and educating students. You will work directly with our Growth Verticals team to constantly identify opportunities to create, launch, and co-deliver (with the support of instructors and mentors) new Data Science programs. We care deeply about all of our students and we want to ensure a thoughtful, stimulating, and positive experience from their very first day with us, all along their journey learning new skills.

As a result, you’ll be directly responsible for vetting the curriculum provided by content partners and designing the end-to-end learning experience. You’ll also guide and support instructors / mentors as they work with students, review their assessments, help them resolve issues, and mentor them through their learning journey.

About Us

Founded in 2012, Juno College of Technology (formerly HackerYou College of Technology) is a well-loved provider of hands-on, project-based training for people who want to learn technology-focused skills! From our 12,000 square foot office in downtown Toronto to our now Live Online environment, we run full-time and continuing education courses year-round. With thousands of alumni and 1,000+ students a year, there’s a large community of people ready to welcome you to Juno!

Responsibilities

  • Identify, structure, and launch new Data Science programming in collaboration with the Growth Verticals team and our content partners
  • Evaluate the Data Science curriculum and develop innovative ways to fill any potential content gaps, using the most up to date Data Science skills and knowledge
  • Help build a world-class team of Data Science instructors / mentors
  • Design the end-to-end student experience while considering Juno’s best practices (we want you to add your own twist!) and continuously improve the learning experience using feedback
  • Co-facilitate prepared curriculum with the support of instructors / mentors
  • Work directly with our students in the Live Online classroom and provide learning support where needed (you may choose to become less hands-on in the classroom as we begin to scale!)
  • Collaborate with the Outcomes team to ensure students have the support and resources required to land their dream job
  • Other tasks as required

Your Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience working in the Data Science field
  • You have strong business acumen and are able to think strategically when growing the data program portfolio
  • You’re an excellent public speaker and written communicator
  • You have experience building and leading diverse teams
  • You have deep expertise in querying and programming languages (SQL, Python, R), experience with statistical analysis and machine learning principles, and the ability to tell stories with data using the latest data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • You are flexible, willing, and able to respond and adapt to different learning styles and personalities
  • You’re friendly, approachable and welcoming
  • You are collaborative, energetic, empathetic, and a great technical problem solver
  • You have a positive attitude and a desire to help others!
  • You have experience teaching (preferred, but not required)

Timing

This is a full-time, permanent position beginning as soon as possible (but we’re flexible - it’s more important for us to find the right person than anything else)! We would love to hire someone in Toronto for this role, but we are open to talent anywhere in the world, especially given that our whole team will be working remotely for the next year or two anyway, until there’s a vaccine.
