So, how do you get started? Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough of our admissions process, and some tips on how to shine through your application!

Step 1: Short Online Application

The best time to apply is right now! At Juno, we operate on rolling acceptances - this means that the earlier you apply to a Bootcamp cohort, the better your chances of getting a seat!

Our short online application is just so we can get to know a little more about you. Once you submit it and I review it to ensure Bootcamp is a good potential fit for you, I’ll give you a call to walk you through our admissions process!

I’ll also ask you a few screening questions to ensure you’d be a good fit for our program - for example, we check to see that you're eligible to work in the country where you currently reside, and that you'll be able to commit to an intensive job search process at the end of Bootcamp.

Our call will also give you the chance to ask me any questions you’re wondering about! We know the personal touch is why many of you choose Juno, and we want to make sure you have the opportunity to ask questions right from the moment you apply.

If it's determined that you’re not quite ready for Bootcamp, fear not! I’ll put you in touch with one of our Student Success Consultants and they’ll get in touch to talk you through your options at Juno.

Step 2: Tech Assessment

If it's determined that you're eligible for Bootcamp, the next step is to submit a Personal Statement and Resume, so we can get a sense of your background and experience. We’re proud to have students join us from all walks of life - so don’t be afraid to share your story! Check out some inspiring Student Stories from our grads here.

Once submitted, I’ll invite you to complete our Tech Assessment. This is an online test of your HTML and CSS skills that takes most people between 1.5 hours and 2 hours to complete. In addition to the coding questions, there are also a few verbal and logical reasoning questions so we can get a sense of how you problem solve.

There are also two JavaScript questions, but don't worry - they’re just for information gathering purposes. Knowledge of JavaScript isn't required for admission to Bootcamp, and as of 2021 our Bootcamp tuition includes admission into our JavaScript course so you can build foundational JavaScript skills before Bootcamp! This ensures that every student is starting our program with the same strong foundation they need to thrive in its immersive environment. Read more about this update and other improvements we’re making to our Bootcamp here.

If you’ve already taken JavaScript with us, you’ll get a JavaScript scholarship of $1,750 CAD to offset this new tuition cost. Book a call with a member of our Student Success Team to discuss the details and have all your questions answered.

No coding experience? No problem!

If you're looking to make a career change but don't yet have any coding skills, we can still help! In fact, most of our applicants come from non-technical backgrounds. If you’re new to coding, we highly recommend our beginner-friendly Web Development course. Over 90% of our Bootcamp students start off with this course to prepare themselves before applying to our Bootcamp. A huge perk is that for every course you take at Juno prior to your Bootcamp cohort, you will receive a $1,000 discount off your Bootcamp tuition!

While taking our Web Development course does not guarantee you a spot in our Bootcamp, it's the best way to gain the skills you need to qualify. It's also a great way for you to see if Juno and coding are a good fit for you before investing in Bootcamp.

Taking our Web Development course can also help your application, as Juno’s Admissions Team receives feedback from your Instructors about you as a student. So if you join a course before Bootcamp, you can stand out in your Bootcamp application by completing your projects, asking questions, and helping your peers!

Step 3: Video Interview

Next, I’ll assess your application and let you know if you've been selected to move on to the next stage, which is a video interview with me over Zoom! In accordance with best practices, our video interviews are structured so that we’re asking each applicant the exact same questions, and we record the interview in case we need to review later.

These interview questions will have to do with qualities we look for in a Bootcamp applicant like motivation, leadership potential, resilience and adaptability, and more, so bring energy and enthusiasm to your answers! There aren’t always “right” or “wrong” responses – we want to see how you think them through.

Step 4: Application Review

Time to make our decision! I’ll tally up your scores in all the areas we evaluate, and make decisions in collaboration with Juno's CEO.

Possible Outcomes

You get accepted!

You get accepted! Yahoo, you did it! We’re so excited to have you join the Juno family of over 900 Bootcamp graduates. You’ll receive your offer of acceptance via phone call from me! After 9 weeks of full-time learning you'll have hands on skills, an impressive portfolio of projects, and the career support you need to launch your web development career.

You get accepted but our ISA seats are full

In 2019, Juno was the first school in Canada to offer Income Share Agreements, and in 2020 we updated the program to include an even more flexible Pay What You Can model. This innovative program allows students to pay less upfront for their Bootcamp education, and only pay us back once they're making at least $50,000 in their new career.

Every Bootcamp session we have a limited number of ISA seats available for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. This is another reason why it’s important to apply as early as you can! In the event that you get accepted into Bootcamp but our ISA seats are full, and an ISA was your preferred method of payment, our team will explore other financial options with you like Financeit so that you can hopefully be able to pay for Bootcamp upfront!

We recommend you take another course first to strengthen your technical skills

Sometimes we may find you’re a great fit for Bootcamp and that you passed your Tech Assessment, but were not strong enough compared to other applicants. If this is the case, we might suggest you take our Web Development course or practice your skills further to strengthen your application. After completing the course, we would ask for feedback about you from your Instructor, and then consider your application for the next available Bootcamp cohort.

We invite you to re-apply!

If you don’t pass your Tech Assessment, or if we don’t feel you’re the right fit for this cohort of students, it’s not Juno closing our doors on you forever - you’re always welcome to re-apply! We want to see you succeed, so if you weren’t accepted, we’re always happy to offer feedback or recommendations so that you can improve your application for the next Bootcamp cohort!

In general, we recommend applying again once you’ve made progress - this likely means improving your web development skills, but it could also mean improving your resume format or practicing your interview skills, for example.

My biggest advice?

Apply as early as possible to improve your chances of getting a spot! And if you want to give yourself the best possible chance of success, we highly recommend taking our Web Development course in the months prior to the Bootcamp cohort you want to apply to. This course will help you gain the HTML and CSS skills you need to be a great candidate, and introduce you to the Juno community.

Most importantly, remember - we’ve got you! If you’re meant for Bootcamp, we’re not going to give up on you, and we’re going to figure out the best way to help you live out your dream of becoming a Web Developer!
