TEDxDDWomen Logo1 In case you haven't heard, we are happy to announce that HackerYou is the title sponsor for the TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen event happening in Toronto on December 5th, 2014! TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen is an independent TED event organized by volunteers from our community. It gives women in Toronto a chance to come together to share their experiences and stories, and it provides a forum for discussion on some of today’s most important issues. This is the first time a TEDxWomen event is coming to Toronto, and we are thrilled to be a part of it! For us, the desire to support an event like TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen really stems from what we care about most as an organization. Although we're thrilled to be able to offer exceptional learning experiences to anyone who wants to learn how to code, HackerYou has a long track record of supporting women as they seek to majorly upgrade their technical skills. We're the only female-founded programming bootcamp in existence, and while all of our programs are co-ed, the majority of the attendees are women. (In fact, our full-time front-end bootcamp in January is 85% female! Diversity matters a lot to us, and we love supporting events like TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen because they embrace diversity, and allow women in Toronto from all backgrounds to come together and get inspired. This year's line-up is filled with amazing speakers, such as Hannah Alper, often referred to as “the future of social media” and “Eco-worrier”; Jennifer Moss, the Co-Founder of Plasticity, an enterprise software for culture performance; and Gwen Elliot, the creator and host of Start Something Big!, which brings the inspiring stories of successful entrepreneurs to thousands of Torontonians in the GTA each week. We can’t wait to hear all of the speakers’ talks, and to meet all of the amazing women attending the event. Although ticket sales for the event are closed, you can check out for more info, and be on the look out for the video version of the talks to be posted to the website. Looking forward to seeing you all on December 5th!
